जनयुद्ध र जनआन्दोलन
People's War & People's Movement
१९९० को गल्लीदेखि राजतन्त्रको अन्त्यसम्म
The 1990 Jana Andolan restored multiparty democracy. Then came the Maoist People's War — seventeen thousand dead — the 2001 palace massacre, the 2006 Loktantra Andolan, the Comprehensive Peace Accord, and finally, on 28 May 2008, the birth of a republic.
The Jana Andolan of 1990
Forty-nine days that ended thirty years of Panchayat: the Nepali Congress and the left marching together, dozens dead, and on 8 April 1990 King Birendra lifting the ban on parties he had never personally imposed.

The People's War, 1996–2006
Forty demands, a two-week ultimatum, and then ten years of guerrilla war from the mid-western hills. Around 17,000 Nepalis died — and the war ended by making the monarchy's abolition possible.

From Palace Massacre to Republic
One June night erased the royal family; one February decree radicalized the parties; nineteen days in April 2006 ended absolute monarchy; and on 28 May 2008 a Constituent Assembly voted the 240-year-old Shah dynasty out of history.
