For 105 years the throne of Nepal had a king and a ruler, and they were not the same man. From Jung Bahadur's bloodbath at the Kot armoury in 1846 to Mohan Shumsher's fall in 1951, one family kept the crown ornamental and the country locked — until a revolution opened the door.
